Salu takes stock of preparation for National level NE sports meet
ITANAGAR, Dec 04: Sports and Youth Affairs secretary Dani Salu today visited Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy Sports complex in order to monitor the ongoing preparation for hosting the National Level North East Sports event. The mega sports extravaganza would be held here from December 10 to 13.
Accompanied by Director (SYA) D K Dinglow and team of departmental officers, the Secretary visited all the arrangement for accommodation and game venues.
This mega sports extravaganza is sponsored by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports under Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan programme. This mega event is organized every year and hosted by a North Eastern state on rotation basis. This time the Ministry has selected Arunachal Pradesh to host the same.
More than 1500 athletes are expected to take part in various disciplines viz: Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Boxing, Football, Judo, Karate, Taekwondo, Weightlifting & Wushu. AAPSSAATA seeks release of pending salary

Free cataract operation camp held
ITANAGAR, Dec 04: A free cataract operation camp was organized at District Hospital Tezu by the State Blindness Control Society from November 25 to 28 last. Patients from all across Lohit, Namsai and Anjaw districts participated in the camp.

Hand over Capital road to BRO: ICDWA
ITANAGAR, Dec 04: The Itanagar City Development Welfare Association (ICDWA) has demanded for handing over the maintenance of NH52A from Banderdewa to Chimpu, including the sector roads, to BRO.
In its memorandum submitted to the Chief Secretary, it alleged the concern authority and the executing agency of not following proper guidelines for maintenance of the road.
Why is it that the concern department is not learning from its past experience since they are well aware of the soil and climatic condition of the Capital Complex? This type of thin carpeting of the road lasts only 3 to 4 months, the association questioned.

SEPPA, Dec 04: The four day workshop cum orientation training programme for Intensive participatory planning exercise (IPPE) on preparation of Labour Budget under MGNREGA on IPPE mode for Block planning team commenced at Seppa from December 2 last. All the BDOs along with field functionaries of seven blocks are attending the training programme excluding Seijosa block to be conducted separately.
Speaking on the on the inaugural day, ADC Pooja Jain stressed on resource convergence for creation of visible assets.
PD, DRDA K Nyodu informed that the eight blocks of East Kameng District have been categorized under backward blocks. He urged the trainees to be sincere during the training programme and informed that 100 days wages of each household shall be possible only when the IPPE programme are carried out properly as per guidelines. The founder of Donyi Polo Mission and former Chief Minister Gegong Apang, in his speech stated that this institution is committed to render the services to differently abled children and urged for everyone's support and cooperation in humanitarian services of the institute. He stated that many things have been accomplished by the society, Donyi Polo Mission but there is still a long way to go and serve the poor, destitute, differently abled children of other categories i.e. Mentally Challenged and Multiple disabled who are not getting any rehabilitation in the state of Arunachal Pradesh so far.
Department of Horticulture Director, Dr. J Ratan said that on this particular day we have to take initiative for solving of the problems of the differently abled if any for right cause and appreciated the founder Chairman for his noble ideas and deeds through which the differently abled children are coming into the mainstreams.
Principal of the institute, H Sharma appealed the Government to provide sufficient financial support to school for providing better services to differently abled children.
Meanwhile, Governor Lt General Nirbhay Sharma in his message, appreciated the services rendered by Donyi Polo Mission and appealed the differently abled children to have an optimistic view. The hardest thing to overcome is not a physical disability, but the mental condition which induces disability; therefore, it is a matter of perception. "All things are possible for those who believe in themselves" he quoted in his message.
On the occasion, the Department of Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, Naharlagun donated 25 numbers of hearing aids to the school.

The objective of the meeting was to sensitize the members of their role and responsibilities and to highlight various provisions under the Act for prohibition of sex selection leading to female foeticide which will ultimately lead to adverse sex ratio in the community.
Chairing the meeting the vice chairperson of the SAB, Indra Mallo who is also Secretary Health & Family Welfare outlined the urgent need of operationalization of the regulatory mechanism in the state as mapping of ultrasonography (which is only available in Arunachal Pradesh) centres and reporting of the activities are found to be lagging.
As per the available data there is alarming decrease in the sex ratio of females per 1000 males as well as in the child sex ratio in India. She emphasized for more intense vigilance on the implementation of the Act, although the data of Arunachal Pradesh is better than the rest of the country.
The District Medical Officers who are the District Appropriate Authority in the districts are to be immediately communicated to form District Advisory committee and start mapping of the USG centres immediately and hold meeting of the owner and employees of the unit or centre for awareness of the Act; she directed the concerned officials in the department.

IDEA & Caritas India organise training for ASHA on malaria prevention
DOIMUKH, Dec 04: Itanagar Diocesan Empowerment Association (IDEA) and Caritas India (an NGO) in collaboration with District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (DVBDCP) Papum Pare has trained 18 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) on Malaria Prevention and Control as per the national guidelines at CHC Doimukh on Dec 2 and 3. It was the training for all dropped out ASHA in previous two trainings conducted under CHC Doimukh and main motto of the training was to capacitate ASHA for early diagnosis and prompt treatment of all malaria cases and reduce morbidity and mortality.
The resource persons of the training were Dr. Nabam Takang, medical Officer of Community Health Centre Doimukh, Techi Pekhi Tara, Consultant of District Vector Borne Disease Control Programme Yupia and Nikap Nada, Malaria Technical Supervisor of Community Health Centre Doimukh.
While monitoring the training programme, District Malaria Officer of Papum Pare district Tatung Tayang said that DVBDCP provides well support to IDEA in controlling malaria incidents in Papum Pare district. ASHAs have tremendous role in sensitizing the community for adopting effective Malaria preventive measures, he said.
IDEA in Partnership with Caritas India (NGO) has been supporting DVBDCP in terms of organizing ASHA training at whole Papum Pare district under the guidelines of National Vector Born Disease Control Programme. So far 206 ASHAs were trained in 10 batches of trainings from all PHC's/CHC's under Papum Pare district.
PM disapproves of Sadhvi’s remarks but Opp wants her removal
NEW DELHI, Dec 04: Breaking his silence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today strongly disapproved of the controversial comments of Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti but his attempts to buy peace failed with the Opposition paralysing Rajya Sabha for the third day, insisting on her dismissal.
Three days after a row erupted over Jyoti's offensive remarks in a public meeting here, Modi spoke in the Rajya Sabha, as the opposition continued with its protest refusing to accept her apology.
"I was informed about the statement which caused the controversy on the day BJP Parliamentary Party was to meet. In the meeting I strongly disapproved of the remarks and I said we should avoid using such language," the Prime Minister said in his brief intervention in the Upper House during the Zero Hour.
Virtually ruling out any action against Jyoti, Modi said the Minister is new and in the "heat" of elections, such comments should be avoided, but at the same time urged the opposition to allow the House to "move on" in "national interest" in view of her apology.
"Before this issue was raised in the House, I had put forth this matter before all our MPs.... The minister is new, and she has come to Parliament for the first time. We are aware of her background. She has apologised.
"I believe that after her apology...This House has so many senior members with so much experience, they know what should be their feelings towards an apology," Modi said.
"I appeal to the House that when the Minister has apologised...This is a message to all of us that in future we all should not cross the limits of dignity in terms of dos and don'ts. I appeal to the House that we should work for the interest of the country," the Prime Minister said.
The Opposition, however, insisted that she has no right to continue as a Minister, contending that since she has apologised, it means she has committed a "crime". PTI

Despite all of this, our legislator is being so stubborn for Pangin as the headquarter and which has resulted into the current social unrest and political crisis in the area.
Since, we have been deprived by our rights, we the people of Siang District request our Chief Minister and Governor to look into this matter and deliver justice to the people of Siang district.

Late Gamlin was an example of true leader
Dear Editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily, I would like to share few words of reverence to our late Jarbom Gamlin, the former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh who left us on 30th November 2014 at Medanta Hospital Gurgaon. He left us with remarkable example to the people of Arunachal in general and society and families in particular. He was a man of integrity with strong personalities. The integrity he exhibited will lead us to better altitude. He was a man of impartiality without distinguishing between haves & haves not, which shall be our motto to serve the society with good attitude. The kindness to the downtrodden people he showed shall be our strength to overcome the differences and the boldness of late Gamlin shall be our spirit that will equip us in time of tribulations.
Above all he was a man of God fearing with healthy soul and spirit who breathed his last on Sunday when God created the heaven and earth in six days and take rest on 7th day being ‘Holy’ Day which is justified through the religious fact and truth of the modern Christian era. Though he left us with sorrow and grief, his gracious and humanly nature shall be remember by thousands of people as he left us while struggling for the cause of aam janta, for righteousness of the aam janta and died with remarkable impression to aam janta with source of inspiration to the people irrespective of cast and community to whom the people of state was grateful to have blink when the mortal remain of late Gamlinji was taken to the state capital.
May god grant him a better place in heavenly abode for I am still praying and praying for every peace and happiness to his soul with a restoration power and strength to his bereaved families.

DNG College faces threat from land grabbers
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of higher authority of education department. At present there is no proper boundary wall demarcating Dera Natung Govt. College Itanagar. It is apprehended that land encroachment may take place in days to come, due to improper boundary wall demarcation, as we all are aware of the fact that the people of our state always look for an opportunity to grab the govt. land and quarter. But to my utter surprise, a wall is being constructed inside the college compound. In my opinion, I feel that boundary wall around the college campus should be given first priority.
Therefore concern authority of college and education department should take necessary initiatives, so that land encroachment does not take place in coming days as old saying goes "prevention is better than cure".

United front against Modi
Ever since Narendra Modi lead Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won massive mandate in the general election, political equation has been changing in the country. Once foes like Nitish Kumar of JD (U) and Lalu Prasad Yadav of RJD have all joined hand together to take on the BJP. The recent impressive victories for BJP in Maharastra and Haryana assembly election have further worried the opposition block. With Congress party further sliding down, the regional forces are trying to regroup under one common platform to contain the phenomenal rise of BJP.
Today a meeting of erstwhile Janata Parivar leaders was held at Delhi wherein Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was authorized to lay the ground work for the merger of former Janata Pariwar parties. The meeting was attended by leaders of RJD, JD (U), INLD, Samajwadi Party and JD(S). The parties have resolved to fight together against the government, both within Parliament and outside. In the past such kind of block or front comprising of non Congress and non BJP parties have miserably failed. Only time will tell how this new formula works out.
